What Is Advertiser Verification?

Advertiser Verification is a process Google uses to confirm that the business behind a Google Ads account is legitimate and that the information associated with the account is accurate. It helps Google make advertising safer and more transparent for everyone — advertisers and consumers alike.
You may be asked to complete verification through:
  • an email notification from Google, or
  • an in-account notification in your Google Ads dashboard.

Why You Might Be Asked to Verify

Google may require advertiser verification for a number of reasons, including:
  • part of Google’s ongoing transparency rollout for all advertisers,
  • advertising behaviors or ad content that trigger a verification requirement,
  • certain industries or campaign types that are subject to additional scrutiny, or
  • updates to your account information (such as payments or business changes).

What You’ll Need to Do

When Google asks you for advertiser verification, you will need to complete required tasks within the timeframe stated in the notification. These typically include answering questions about your organization and business operations.
You may also need to provide documentation (such as business registration documents or other information) to verify your identity or organization.
Important: If Google sets a deadline and you do not complete advertiser verification by that date: your Google Ads account may be paused and your ads may stop running until verification is completed.

After You Submit Verification

Once you complete all required tasks and your verification information is accepted by Google:
  • you will receive a confirmation notification, and
  • your account status will update to verified.
Verification may also be used in the future if Google requests additional updates or re-verification due to changes in your account.

Why This Matters for You

Advertiser verification:
  • helps ensure your ads continue to run without interruption when required,
  • increases trust in your business by linking your ads to verified information,
  • may be tied to policy compliance and access to certain ad formats or features.
Completing verification in a timely way protects your advertising continuity and performance.
