Twilio A2P Campaign: What It Is, Why It Matters, and What to Expect

Why This Matters for Your Account

Your Sales Jumpstart system (built on GoHighLevel) uses SMS and call tracking powered by Twilio. The Twilio account you create during onboarding is directly connected to your Sales Jumpstart account.
Because of recent carrier regulations, SMS texting cannot be fully enabled until your Twilio A2P Campaign is approved. This is not optional — it is a carrier-mandated compliance step for all US businesses sending text messages.
If the A2P campaign is not approved:
  • Text messages will fail or not send in Sales Jumpstart
  • Your tracking phone number cannot be registered for SMS
  • Lead follow-up via text will not work

What Is a Twilio A2P Campaign?

A Twilio A2P (Application-to-Person) 10DLC Campaign is a required registration process for businesses that send SMS messages to US phone numbers using standard 10-digit long-code numbers.
This process:
  • Verifies your business (brand)
  • Verifies how and why you text customers (use case)
  • Confirms consumer consent and opt-in language
  • Reduces carrier filtering and spam blocking
  • Ensures compliance with CTIA and carrier regulations
Twilio requires detailed information about:
  • How users opt in to receive texts
  • What types of messages are sent
  • How users can opt out
  • Where this language appears on your website

When the A2P Campaign Happens (Timeline)

The A2P campaign is submitted after your Sales Jumpstart training, not before.
This timing is intentional and required.

Step 1: Sales Jumpstart Training

Before we can submit your A2P campaign, you must be trained on how to properly use Sales Jumpstart.
Why this matters:
  • Twilio requires proof that your website and forms clearly explain SMS usage
  • You need to understand how leads flow into the system and how to use the system before the Sales Jumpstart lead capture form (with Twilio required opt-in language) is added to your website

Step 2: Website Updates by Our Team

After your training is complete, our team will update your live website with the required assets Twilio reviews, including:
  • A lead form that includes Twilio-compliant SMS opt-in language
  • Clear SMS disclosure and consent language on the form
  • Opt-out instructions (STOP messaging)
  • A Privacy Policy page with all required Twilio language
⚠️ Important: Twilio will not approve campaigns without seeing this language publicly displayed on your live website.

Step 3: A2P Campaign Submission to Twilio

Once your website is fully compliant:
  • We submit your A2P campaign directly to Twilio
  • Twilio charges a $15 campaign registration fee
  • Twilio reviews all submitted assets and information
Approval timeline:
  • Typically 7–14 business days
  • Approval or denial is determined solely by Twilio (not DBM)

What Happens After Approval?

Once Twilio approves your A2P campaign:
  • Your tracking phone numbers will get officially registered for SMS by DBM team
  • Texting capabilities are enabled in Sales Jumpstart
  • SMS automations and lead follow-up begin working normally
If a campaign is denied, Twilio provides vague feedback and required changes, and the resubmission process begins again.

Key Things to Know

  • The A2P process is strict and carrier-regulated
  • Approval is mandatory for SMS functionality
  • Texting will fail or appear broken until approval is granted
  • The process protects your deliverability and reputation long-term

Bottom Line

The Twilio A2P Campaign is a required compliance step that ensures:
  • Your texts actually get delivered
  • Your business stays compliant with US carrier rules
  • Your Sales Jumpstart system works as intended
We handle the technical setup and submission — your role is to:
  1. Complete Sales Jumpstart training
  2. Allow website updates for compliance
  3. Be patient during Twilio’s review window
This step is critical to protecting your lead follow-up, automation, and long-term SMS performance
